Chase Elliott dominated the Go Bowling at the Glen
from Watkins Glen International on Sunday afternoon to pick up his second
victory of the season.
Elliott started on the pole and led 80 of 90 laps on
Sunday, picking up where he left off after winning last year’s event. Elliott said his team put together a good car
that was strong all weekend.

“What a day…such a fast NAPA Camaro, and these guys
called a great race,” Elliott said. “That
was freaking awesome.”
Elliott’s win looked like a repeat of last year’s
finish at Watkins Glen, as the driver had to hold off Martin Truex Jr. over the
final run once again to secure the victory.
Last year, Elliott picked up his first career victory
at Watkins Glen, and made mistakes in the closing laps that allowed Truex to
get to his bumper. This year, Elliott
said he was able to use what he learned last year to run a smoother race.
“Just stayed mistake-free,” Elliott said. “Martin was a little quicker those last two
runs, but the track position was king and I didn’t mess up into Turn 1 this
time, so that was good.”
Truex was the only driver who could hang with Elliott
throughout the race, but he could never get past the younger driver.
Truex said his car would stall out once he got to
Elliott’s rear bumper.
“All I could do was get two car lengths and try to
force a mistake,” Truex said. “He hit
his marks and was really fast in the key areas he needed to be leaving a few of
the key corners.”
“Our Bass Pro Camry was really fast today. We passed quite a few cars there that were
fast and finished up front, just couldn’t pass that last one.”
