Johnson took the lead after the race was sent into
overtime following a late caution.
Johnson said he had a strong car at the very end of the race, which
allowed him to overtake Kevin Harvick in the final laps.
“Harvick and I got by Joey [Logano] there at the
start, and I got a great run off Turn 2,” Johnson said. “I thought, ‘I actually got a shot at this
thing,’ which I didn’t expect to have.”
“Harvick’s been so fast and I cleared him and I kind
of got away. We saved our best for last.”
Harvick, who led a race-high 142 laps, said his car
didn’t take off well on restarts.
“We weren’t very good on restarts for four or five
laps unless we were all by ourselves,” Harvick said. “The 48 [of Johnson] was able to hang with us
and we weren’t able to drive it in like we needed to.”

Kevin Harvick Wins at Phoenix
Originally written for CLNS Radio.
Kevin Harvick won the Good Sam 500 from Phoenix
International Raceway on Sunday afternoon, beating Carl Edwards to the line in
a photo finish.
Harvick, who has dominated at Phoenix in recent years,
had a strong car during the race, but had to hold off Edwards following an
overtime finish. Harvick was able to
beat Edwards to the line by .01 seconds.
Harvick said he knew Edwards would make it tough for
him at the end of the race.
“I knew [Edwards] was better through 3 and 4, and that
was not the car I wanted to see behind me,” Harvick said. “I got up too high and I wasn’t able to stay
on the bottom like I wanted to and he got into me, like he should have.”
“I knew…I was going to have to get into his door, and
it worked, just barely.”
Edwards came within inches of picking up the victory,
and he said he didn’t quite time his final move correctly.
“I thought I’d just move [Harvick] out of the way and
get by, I just didn’t move him far enough,” Edwards said. “I tried to side-swipe him before he got
there, but I needed to be in front of his front tire.”

Brad Keselowski Wins Big in Las Vegas
Originally written for CLNS Radio.
Brad Keselowski won the Kobalt 400 from Las Vegas
Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Keselowski passed hometown favorite Kyle Busch with
five laps to go, and he was able to run away to capture the victory.
Keselowski said his car was great on long runs, but he
didn’t get one until the very end.
“We had awesome speed at the end of every run,”
Keselowski said. “At the end we got that
big, long run…it finally started taking off with about 25 to go and I was able
to get second.”
“Once I got to the 18 [of Busch], I saw his car had
started to fall off and mine hadn’t.”
Keselowski stayed out during a late caution, and he
was able to save enough fuel to make it last until the end following a string
of late cautions.
“I didn’t figure there would be any way we’d make it…we
were able to save a bunch,” Keselowski said.
Busch, who won Saturday’s Xfinity Series race, said a
late-race vibration caused his car to tighten up in the closing laps.
“I had a vibration when we put the right [side tires]
on, and then it just kept getting worse and worse there at the end,” Busch
said. “It got so tight; that was the tightest
we were all day. I didn’t know if the
tire was coming apart or what.”
