Busch Dominates Coca-Cola 600
Originally written for CLNS Media.
Kyle Busch dominated the Coca-Cola 600 from Charlotte
Motor Speedway on Sunday night to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Busch started on the pole and led 377 of 400 laps. After dreaming of winning one of NASCAR’s
crown jewel events, Busch said he was happy to finally get to victory lane.
“I’ve dreamt of this race since I was a kid,” Busch
said. “I don’t think there’s anything
that can top Homestead…but this one’s very special.”
The win was Busch’s first victory at Charlotte, and
Busch is now the only driver in NASCAR history to have won at every track he’s
run. Busch said it was a testament to
how strong his team has been over the years.
“Adam Stevens and all my guys are just phenomenal to
work with and it’s so much fun right now,” Busch said. “The first one to check off all the track and
get it all done.”
Martin Truex Jr. overcame two penalties on pit road on
Sunday, but he couldn’t catch Busch in the closing laps. Truex said he didn’t think he could have run
down Busch at the end of the race.
“That last run we made quite a bit on Kyle, but I just
feel like he was just taking care of it,” Truex said. “Those last 20-30 laps of a run he could just
check out.”

Harvick Wins Monster Energy All-Star Race
Originally written for CLNS Media.
Kevin Harvick won the Monster Energy All-Star Race on
Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway to win the $1 Million prize.

Harvick was fast throughout the night, and led 36 of the
93 laps run. But after getting caught
back in traffic early in the race, Harvick said his car struggled to regain the
speed he had when the green flag dropped.
“We got a little behind on the first pit stop, and
traffic wasn’t our friend,” Harvick said.
“I was not very good on the bottom; I would push and slide. In a straight line, this thing was a rocket.”
NASCAR implemented a new rules package for the
All-Star Race that slowed the cars down and promoted more side-by-side
racing. Restrictor plates, normally seen
at the much larger Daytona and Talladega, bunched the field up into a pack and
created more drafting.
Harvick said his team has run well on the restrictor
plate tracks leading into this non-points event.
“These guys…put a lot of effort into a lot of
restrictor plate racing,” Harvick said. “Our
car was super fast…this is just unbelievable.”
Daniel Suarez transferred into the All-Star Race after
winning the second segment of the Monster Energy Open, the last-chance race for
all those not already qualified for the main race. Once in the main event, Suarez drove to the
front with a fast car.
Suarez said his car was slow to get going, which hurt
him on the final restart.
“I feel like we had a car actually capable to win the
race,” Suarez said. “For whatever
reason, on restarts my car was taking one lap to go.”
“It hurts to be close and not get it.”

Harvick's Dominance Continues with Kansas Victory
Originally written for CLNS Media.
Kevin Harvick won the KC Masterpiece 400 from Kansas
Speedway on Saturday night.
Harvick led 79 laps on his way to victory lane on
Sunday to continue his dominant season.
The victory was Harvick’s fifth in just 12 races this season.

Even after running up front for most of the race,
Harvick said his car struggled with handling.
“Wasn’t really happy with it,” Harvick said. “I think we can make it a lot better when we
come back.”
Harvick restarted sixth on the final restart with 10
laps to go, but he was able to run down Martin Truex Jr. to take the lead with
two laps to go. Harvick said he knew he
would have to change his racing line if he wanted a shot at Truex.
“I was tight on the bottom, so I just started driving
it up top,” Harvick said. “I was either
going to drive it into the wall or win this race.”
Truex didn’t run up front throughout the day, but a
strategy call by crew chief Cole Pearn got him to the lead late. Truex said his team overachieved on a night
when the car’s handling wasn’t very good.
“Good strategy call by Cole, just…a hell of an effort
by our team,” Truex said. “We definitely
had to fight hard, we were awful to start the race. We definitely over-achieved, so that’s always
good.”

Harvick Dominates at Dover
Originally written for CLNS Media.
Kevin Harvick won the AAA 400 from Dover International
Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Harvick led a race-high 201 laps on his way to a
dominant victory on Sunday. After two of
Harvick’s Stewart-Haas teammates finished in the top five, Harvick said the
finishes were a testament to the organization’s strength.
“The first thing I had to do was just thank everybody
on my team…for just continuing to put the effort that they put into these cars,”
Harvick said. “Three cars in the top
five says a lot about where we are as a company.”
Rain halted the race with 80 laps to go, but the race restarted
after NASCAR was able to dry the track.
When the race resumed, Harvick raced Clint Bowyer for the lead before
pulling away by seven seconds.
Harvick said he enjoyed racing for the lead with his
teammate.
“It’s fun racing your teammate; that says a lot about
our company,” Harvick said.
Bowyer said he didn’t know how his car would handle in
clean air over the final run after running in traffic for the most of the day.
“The biggest thing was if we had a chance to adjust
our car in clean air like [Harvick] did; he had that luxury all day,” Bowyer
said. “It’s fun to be running like this
again and be competitive.”
